Dr. Ian Buckle is the first International member of the teaching faculty at the Dawson Academy for Advanced Dental Education in St. Petersburg, Florida.
As The Dawson Academy UK’s Clinical Director, Dr. Buckle lectures nationally and internationally on functional and aesthetic dentistry. He is involved directly with the hands on courses of the Core Curriculum, seminars, & study clubs and provides continuing education to dental professionals across Europe. He spends approximately two-thirds of his time in practice and the other third as an educator. He believes this balance keeps him on the leading edge of both disciplines.

The curriculum at The Dawson Academy has been developed as a complete plan for general dentists, and dental practice team members striving to develop a highly effective practice. The courses have been designed to clarify the concepts and provide hands-on-training in the skills that are needed to practice master quality, complete dentistry. Success in today’s fee-for-service environment requires competencies in a triad of skills: diagnostic, clinical and organisational. The classes at The Dawson Academy UK have been built around the need to develop these competencies and are structured to meet needs in all three areas.
Our hands on classes at The Dawson Academy are limited in enrollment to afford participants the maximum opportunity to practice the skills in a hands-on format. We utilise state of the art learning techniques to ensure that students go beyond just understanding principles to actually being able to implement the concepts and skills in their practices. For doctors wishing to go beyond being a ‘tooth doctor’, our dental courses in the Core Curriculum continuing education courses will set you on the path of becoming a ‘physician of the masticatory system’.
The Academy covers four areas of study and works in sequence from Module 1 and 2 to Module 3 and 4. We highly recommend Module 1 and 2 to be taken in close proximity in either order to gain maximum educational benefit. We would advise all delegates to have taken Module 1 and 2 before progressing to Module 3 and 4.
As someone who's a bit of a wimp when it comes to needles and drills, I was pleased to discover that this is the first dental surgery I've been to where the treatment genuinely doesn't hurt - a testament to the skill and care provided by the staff. Treatment - fillings x 2, some reconstructive/aesthetic work and several hygiene appointments.
