Without fixed brackets or wires, straightening with Invisalign is much different from traditional methods. Instead of tightening wires to bring the teeth into the correct position, clear aligners employ a series of removable aligners.
We’ll start by talking you through the available options, so you can decide which aligner system is right for you
Your clear aligner journey begins with a scan using our hi-tech digital 3D imaging system. The scanner replaces the dental putty used to take traditional impressions, allowing our team to achieve an accurate fit without any mess. We can even show you an image of exactly how your smile will look once treatment is complete.
We'll send your digital scans to a laboratory along with detailed production notes from our orthodontic team. Invisalign will use these to create a series of custom aligners. Depending on the complexity of the treatment, the process could take anything from 12-48 aligners to complete.
As soon as we receive the aligners from the laboratory—usually a few weeks—you'll be invited back to our Wirral clinic for your fitting. We'll make sure the first appliance is comfortable and give you some helpful hints and advice for getting started. We'll also issue your first replacement aligner to swap in a few weeks.
You should wear your aligners for around 20 hours every day, including at night, removing them to eat, brush and floss. At regular visits to our clinic every six weeks or so, we'll provide you with the next aligner in the series. Treatment usually takes 9-15 months.
After wearing the final aligner for a few weeks, you'll notice your teeth gently nudged into the perfect position. Now it's time to say goodbye to the aligners and say hello to an amazing new smile!
Clive’s front teeth made him feel embarrassed to smile. Gordon’s teeth were constantly chipping and breaking, and he wanted a budget-friendly solution. We used Smile Trial and digital planning to show Mark his new smile before starting treatment with crowns to restore his upper teeth and implants to replace his more decayed lower teeth. Richard’s worn and broken teeth made him feel self-conscious. We determined the cause of Richard’s problems to be a poor bite and issues with his jaw joint. Dr Buckle corrected these before restoring Richard’s smile. The results are just as amazing more than a decade on.
Eve had been told surgery was the only way to correct her overbite. But with a little careful planning, Dr Buckle was able to solve the issue using fixed brace treatment. It took just ten months to achieve this amazing result for Eve.
As someone who's a bit of a wimp when it comes to needles and drills, I was pleased to discover that this is the first dental surgery I've been to where the treatment genuinely doesn't hurt - a testament to the skill and care provided by the staff.
