As dentists, we want to preserve teeth whenever we can. Root canal treatment allows us to do just that when the tooth’s inner pulp is dead or infected - by removing the pulp and leaving the tooth where it should be.
The process is simple.
We begin with an X-ray to give us a clear picture of the infected site before drilling a tiny hole in the tooth to access the pulp inside. We'll remove any infected material and give the inside of the tooth a thorough clean. A dental sealant is then used to fill the interior of the tooth and the hole resealed.
If you have an abscess or infected pulp, you may feel there’s little to smile about. But you can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that root canal surgery’s reputation as one of dentistry’s least comfortable treatments is wholly undeserved.
